After reading much hype (more hype) about BR Guest’s newest spot, I was excited to try Bill’s Bar & Burger. In fact, my stomach was growling as we took our seats at a picnic-y style table, complete with a gingham tablecloth. The menu looked good and I happily ordered the “sunset and vine,” but my feelings quickly changed after I took the first bite.
I was confused.
Not only was my burger bland, flavorless and boring, it tasted exactly like the sub-par meat-patties my dad used to grill up in our backyard (the ones nobody ever liked). According to the menu, this was supposed to contain some sort of special sauce, which was either absent, or like the burger, had no taste. My friend thought his was pretty good, but he had bacon on it, which can undoubtedly boost the flavor of just about anything.
The veggie fries were equally as disappointing (maybe even worse).
First of all, they were diced. DubsTeeEff? Why would you dice things that are supposed to be finger-food? They too had no seasoning whatsoever, unless you count the excessive amount of salt. The regular fries were alright, but nothing to write home about.
In conclusion, I’m wondering why this place got such great reviews. I will not be returning.
